Population of Saudi Arabia is facing a large number of health problems . Health education has been identified as the main tool for primary prevention. Use of the new technologies is essential for delivery of health education to reach everyone in community and change practices.
Methodology
A cross-sectional survey among Saudi MoH Twitter followers .A survey self administrated was designed in English and Arabic for data collection. Used SurveyMonkey to send the survey and have three sections. Socio-demographic data, twitter followers and life-style behaviors.
Results
The total response of this survey was 841 followers, 631 of them complete response (74.03% response rate ) . Participants who follow Saudi MoH twitter account were more than half n = 449( 53.38%) and who Non-followers MoH twitter account was n = 392(46.61%). Most of the participants were females (45.8%) ,Saudi national (66%) , aged between 30-39 years (22.2%) ,having a university degree (40.3%) , unemployed (28.3%) , married (40.7%) .
Conclusion
Twitter can be effective tool to give health information to Saudi followers with assessing the content type health education messages and concrete with interested topics to followers especially the females who high educated.
